When you work at Caterpillar as a Technical Planning Supervisor , you will provide the technical expertise necessary to design, develop, and implement manufacturing systems, complex manufacturing operations and sophisticated machines. You will be a subject matter expert for facility employees relative to the technical phase of the planning function.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Completes special work assignments requiring collaboration and integration between business functions;

  • Develops, analyzes and manages Manufacturing / Assembly Projects;

  • Assists in developing department capital and expense budgets;

  • Maintains the department capital forecast;

  • Updates & maintains facility layouts

  • Administers the assembly NPI process to ensure that Engineering drawings are processed on time for NPI builds;

  • Trains new assemblers and develops training programs;

  • Engages in creative problem solving to address operational issues;

  • Works with internal and external suppliers to develop and manage projects to ensure efficient and cost effective systems and processes to produce quality products;

  • Provides the application, procurement, processing, installation and capability of new capital equipment;

  • Designs, develops and implements the integration of manufacturing systems including factory control software, scheduling techniques, simulation and systems application;

  • Coordinates, plans, monitors and reports the activities associated with flow analysis, design, financial modeling and implementation of complex manufacturing technology in an assigned area;

  • Provides manufacturing technical support in process control and internal certification;

  • Coordinates the corporate manufacturing and office space utilization and assists in preparation of business proposals for rearrangements or additions or complete new facilities that are being proposed to ensure proper utilization of space;

  • Coordinates the purchase and application of machine tools, controls and related equipment.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Operations

  • 3 or more years of Manufacturing Engineering experience

  • 3 or more years experience in a manufacturing facility

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience

  • Familiar with company policies and procedures with a strong teamwork background

  • Able to build strong relationships with various stakeholders

  • AutoCAD experience

  • Working knowledge of Standard Assembly tools and their applications

  • Lean Manufacturing Experience

  • Advanced Software, Programming, & System Design Knowledge

  • Experience working with Caterpillar products

  • Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Prior work experience in a high velocity assembly facility

  • Strong Mechanical, Analytical & Problem Solving Skills

  • Project Management Experience

  • Strong Blue Print Reading Skills

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
