The position is with Specialty Product Technologies (SPT). SPT manufactures and markets products that sense, measure and control temperature, position, quantity, time, level and flow in the Process Automation and Factory Automation Markets. The Specialty Product Technologies business unit generates approximately $100m in revenue combined with significant operating profit. With two locations; Elizabethtown NC (approximately 60 minutes from Wilmington NC suburbs) and Plainville CT (approximately 20 minutes from Hartford, CT), the business unit has more than 350 associates performing marketing, sales, product development, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain management, human resources, finance and customer service activities. Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Primary responsibilities are to set up/ operate multiple CNC machines to perform metal removal operations according to production orders, routing sheets, drawings and specifications. Set feeds and speeds according to routing sheets. Load existing programs, adjust operating parameters and perform quality checks. Inspect “first piece”, consult with quality assurance, and inspect work pieces through the production run for out of tolerance machining. Perform related work as required.

Basic Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Setup/Operate CNC machines as required.

  • General knowledge of G & M codes as well as subroutine programming

  • Adjust programs coding and tool offsets as need to maintain part quality.

  • Clean and maintain machine, tooling and parts to maintain equipment in optimal production condition.

  • Work safety to prevent injuries and follow all safety guidelines.

  • Inspect cutting tools for sharpness and usability.

  • Observe machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machine, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometer and dial caliper. Adjust machine to control part process.

  • Work on teams to troubleshoot manufacturing and/or quality problems.

  • Exercise special care to ensure the machine is running correctly to avoid machine damage and produce highest quality product.

  • Perform preventative Maintenance of equipment

Qualifications:

• Associates Degree in Machining Technology5 year or more experience in a metalworking manufacturing environment or completion of CNC training at the community college level

• Able to program using Master Cam, as well as understand basic G & M code programming

• Interpreting blueprints and work instructions

• Math skill; Geometry and Basic Trig, Use Calculator

• Familiarity and ability to set up, program and operate Haas, Fanuc and/or Fadal CNC machine controllers

• Knowledge of tool offsets, speeds and feeds for cutting various materials.

Minimum Physical Requirements:

• Capable of handling 50-200 lbs. valve bodies with the assistance of hand trucks, lifts, conveyors and hoists.

• Ability to stand for long periods up to eight hours or more at a time.
