SAS Institute Inc. Software Developer - Release Engineering in Cary, North Carolina
As a Software Developer in Release Engineering Build Services, you will assist development teams, using various source management processes, with setup and build monitoring of SAS software. You will support those in R&D using the Continuous Delivery Pipeline by answering questions, creating, and removing technology stacks upon request. You will be responsible for executing new and existing internal processes in accordance with designated practices and timelines. Additional responsibilities will include assisting with testing, validation and documentation of processes and infrastructure changes to achieve continual improvement.
Primary responsibilities for this role include:
Works with multiple operating systems and anticipates technical anomalies and enhancements for various environments.
Monitors SAS builds written in various languages.
Reports build issues to developers and assists them with testing and implementing fixes as needed.
Discusses technical and operational issues with users and customers; anticipates time needed to complete projects and assists in project scheduling.
Serves as part of a larger team to ensure accurate, timely and consistent handling of regularly scheduled operational work.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, preferably Computer Science or related field
5 years of experience in systems support, user support, customer support or training of enterprise class software and/or hardware
Experience with UNIX and Windows operating systems
Solid scripting/programming skills (PERL, Python, Groovy and/or other scripting/programming languages)
Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in place of the education requirement stated above.
Experience working with global teams.
Ability to work within a DevOps partnership.
Ability to think analytically and to effectively communicate problems and fixes.
Ability to handle a mix of involvement in programming and daily operational tasks.
Strong interpersonal, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Able and excited to work with new technologies.
Experience working with Jenkins, Git, Gerrit, and Docker.
Experience in build operations.
Familiarity with build environments like Gradle or Maven.
