MetLife IT Director - Network Planning & Governance in Cary, North Carolina

Role Value Proposition:

This exciting role is responsible for a critical function within the Global Network Operations organization and is focused on Networking Strategy planning and its execution. The incumbent will ensure that all networking policies, procedures, and service level expectations are adhered to and met by the internal staff as well as by MetLife’s key vendors and providers. This role is also responsible for managing large scale network projects and initiatives, and driving their delivery and adoptions across all network operations organizations, including LAN, WAN, Network Security, Voice, Video, Contact Center and Email and Messaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in planning of network services totaling to $90M annually, including contract reviews and renewal, service measurement and improvement, vendor strategy, Global resource management, Cost efficiency.

  • Manages SLA’s via metrics reporting and stewardship for both internally and externally (vendor) provided services; responds to service complaints and concerns and resolves them in a timely manner.

  • Manages, tracks, and documents major Network Operations driven projects and initiatives, includes the creation and ownership of project proposals, and vendor related contract initiatives.

  • Creates, tracks, updates, and presents all critical organizational metrics on an ongoing basis. Continuously reviews the network environment to ensure that the most critical metrics are being presented to accurately describe the operation with a focus on quality, stability, cost, capacity management, and continuous improvement.

  • Conducts budget forecasting and calculates the business and financial impact for future activities; analyzes inventory and staffing, and seeks out automation / efficiency opportunities with a goal of reducing spend and achieving cost savings on an ongoing basis; and tracks network infrastructure inventory across the enterprise to ensure that all hardware is current and meets established standards.

  • Manages the onboarding of vendor resources and recertifies vendor associates assignments and IDs on a periodic basis.

  • Provides oversight and scheduling, and secures approvals for all changes to all network environments (i.e. production, development, Integration, and QA).

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 15+ years of relevant business experience in a fast-paced IT environment.

  • Broad understanding of computer systems and networking.

  • Knowledge of ITIL framework processes and procedures.

  • Experience managing multiple IT vendors in a large-scale enterprise.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and presentation skills.

  • Ability to disseminate information to communicate effectively between technical and non-technical staff members.

  • Competencies: Interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, sound business judgment, computer skills, ability to influence, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Has excellent working knowledge of IT metrics, key performance indicators, and performance measures.

  • Solid understanding of IT organizations and how internal technology organizations work together.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major in related field

  • MBA or other advanced degree.

  • Expert knowledge in vendor management.
